Sonnig Records at Enchant Christmas

NOV 10 • DC Rotary Club at World Press Photo

On Sunday, November 10, the Rotary Club of Washington, DC will kick off a series of events at the World Press Photo Exhibition 2019. On view at Dupont Underground from November 8 thru December 8, World Press Photo takes visitors behind the headline photos we know so well and introduces compelling, unfamiliar ones.

For the third time since the exhibition has come to Washington, the Rotary Club of Washington, DC will host the following events throughout the exhibition. All events are free:

 

OCT 9 • Orquesta Melao at Dupont Underground

On Wednesday, October 9, 7:30-9:30 PM, Dupont Underground Jazz Ambassador, Changamiré, will present latin jazz group, Orquesta Melao, for a night of dancing and world class jazz. Click HERE for tickets.

Orquesta Melao has played the DC music scene for over 15 years. In 2016, the group debuted and continues to perform weekly on Thursday nights at the Eighteenth Street Lounge, garnering a large and loyal following of jazz and salsa music lovers. With pulsing percussion, exciting horns, and rhythmic vocals, the hot jazz sound of Orquesta Melao comes to you from:

SEP 21 • 400 Years: Journey of the Diaspora

On Saturday, September 21, the Prince George’s African American Museum will open the long anticipated exhibition, 400 Years: Journey of the Diaspora. The  opening reception is from 5:00-8:00 PM.

The Prince George’s African American Museum marks the first stop for this traveling exhibition throughout the United States and abroad. The exhibition visually depicts the 400-year journey of people of African descent from around the world, bringing together interdisciplinary and intergenerational artists.

“The Lincoln Ross Story” Airs on DCTV

In July, trombonist, songwriter and Count Basie alum, Lincoln Ross, was interviewed at DCTV studios, and the interview is airing throughout the month of September.

With informational and often fun exchanges between Ross and show host, Krystal Branton, sit back, reminisce, learn and enjoy The Lincoln Ross Story as he talks about riding through Europe with Count Basie, collaborating with Donald Byrd, touring in South Africa with Millie Jackson and landing on Chuck Brown’s smash hit.

Thingamajig 2019

On Thursday, July 25th, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington DC will host Thingamajig, the organization’s annual youth invention convention. Complete with jetpacks, shown here are three adorable winners from the 2013 convention, during their presentation at our Little Rooster STEM event that year!
